Energize Missouri Farms Field Day Nov. 2 in Nevada

On Wednesday, Nov. 2, local folks will have the opportunity to learn all about energy audits, alternative energy sources like wind, solar, geothermal and ion battery energy, as well as tips on how to finance energy improvements and upgrades on the farm.

The event is slated for 4-8 p.m., at the Franklin P. Norman City/County Community Center, 200 N. Ash, Nevada. A free dinner will be served.

Reservations are recommended and may be made by calling (417) 298-1073 or (417) 852-4306.

The field day is made possible by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act through a grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Energize Missouri Agruculture program and presented by the Missouri Business Development Group, a press release said.

So when the net zero law was passed a few years ago I went to the CO-OP and was wanting to install a wind generator. The unit I was looking at was to provide around 250,000kwh a year.

Their response was less than favorable. Basically they said as the law was written they do not have to pay for any electricity that is over produced as compared to usage. It would just roll over to the next month and so on until the end of the year when the books would be reset to zero.

So it was not an economically feasable project from the get go. You should have heard how they wanted to talk about conservation, heat pump got one insulation got it, they did not want one getting off the electrical teat. If you are a farmer and have a high electrical bill than you probably can justify it and amoritize the equipment over 10 years , but if you just have few acres and home in the country and want to produce well goood luck.
