The Cottey College volleyball team will begin the Regional/District Tournament on Friday night at Florissant Valley in St. Louis. Cottey, 5-21 on the season, will take on host Flo Valley at 5 p.m. If the Comets win, they'll take on number-one seed East Central at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Comets finished the regular season on Friday at Fort Scott. The Greyhounds beat the Comets 25-21, 25-17, 25-15.

"Fort Scott was celebrating their Dig Pink Night, so the atmosphere was high in energy for them," Cottey Coach Marla Kannady Foreman said. "However, we put up a good fight in game one, with a 12-10 lead. Neither team was willing to give in, but it came down to made the least amount of errors."

Foreman said Fort Scott capitalized on her team's "mental breakdown."

"We did make a strong comeback in game three," Foreman noted. "I think my players did a great job and were making things happen."

Lindsey Aldridge had nine kills and Sam Pierce had eight. Taylor McCue had 15 assists and Alexis Self added 12. Pierce had five blocks and Kristina Coverdell added four. Self had 15 digs, Rachel Massey added 11 and Kymee Bair chipped in 10.
