Candidates sought for Miss Merry Christmas pageant

The holidays are fast approaching, and the annual Miss Merry Christmas Pageant will soon be here.

The Nevada/Vernon County Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking candidates for the Miss Merry Christmas Pageant.

A winner is selected in each of four age divisions: Miss Candy Cane, for girls in kindergarten through second grade; Miss Snowflake, for girls in grades 3-5; Miss Holly, for girls in grades 6-8; and Miss Merry Christmas, for girls in grades 9-12.

Judging, based on talent, personality and dress, will take place at 6 p.m., Friday. Dec. 2, in the auditorium at Nevada High School, and all contestants take part in the Christmas parade, which will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 3.

All contestants must:

* Be a Vernon County Resident

* Arrive at the pageant no later than 5:30 pm (late arrivals may not be allowed to compete, but will be refunded their entry fee).

* Present talent (two minutes maximum) vocal, dance, poem, or dramatic reading

* Participate in the parade

Completed pageant and parade entry forms, along with entry fees and photographs should be turned in at the Nevada/Vernon County Chamber of Commerce: 225 W Austin, Suite 200, by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
