Council faces long agenda in Tuesday meeting
The Nevada City Council approved a $59,076 matching grant from the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for the design of a project to rebuild the apron at the Nevada Municipal Airport during their May 4, 2010 council meeting.
During the council's Jan 3 meeting, at 7 p.m., in council chambers at the Public Safety Building at Ash and Austin, Nevada, they will be looking to move that project forward when they consider an agreement to increase the amount of the matching grant by $1,082,372 to cover the cost of the construction which is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2012.
The city's match for this grant will be $56,968 and is included in the city's 2012 budget.
The council will also be considering the first reading of a special ordinance approving a contract with Waste Corporation of America for the city's trash service for 2012.
Other new items on the council's agenda include the annual bids for concrete, rock and fuel for the public works department.
The council also will be holding the second readings of a lengthy list of ordinances. Among the items under consideration are three amendments to the city's 2011 budget, the retirement of a $420,050 inter-fund loan from the water and sewer fund to the general fund in 2004, two hay leases and one pasture lease on city property and an agreement with the University of Missouri to georeference, mosaic and digitize parcel maps for the city of Nevada.
