Extension Council elections under way

The Vernon County Extension Council elections are being held, now through Feb. 3. The county extension council works with extension staff members in planning and making recommendations for educational programs.

The Vernon County council is composed of 20 members, 16 elected and 2 appointed. Voting throughout the county will be by districts. Voters can only vote for candidates in their district. Vernon County is divided into 2 districts: Northern (north of 54 Highway) and Southern (South of 54 Highway). Anyone who is 18 or older is eligible to vote. Ballot boxes will be placed at the following locations:

* Producer's Grain -- Bronaugh

* Producer's Grain -- Walker

* Farm Bureau -- Nevada

* Farm Service Agency -- Nevada

* Extension Center -- Nevada

* YMCA -- Nevada

University of Missouri Extension offers educational programs in such categories as agriculture, home economics, business and industry, community development, youth development and 4-H, and various continuing education courses, seminars, and workshops.
