Middle school teams split with Carthage

The Nevada Middle School basketball teams took on Carthage on Monday night.

The seventh grade boys beat Carthage 49-30. Matt Sommer scored 30 points and Miles McNeley added eight. The seventh grade boys are now 9-1. The seventh grade B team won 29-29. Cameron Diaz scored 14 and Nathan McCall added eight.

In the eighth grade A game, Carthage won 41-27. Levi Palmer scored six for Nevada. The team is now 3-5. The eighth grade B team lost to Carthage 27-18. Austin Deer scored seven.

The eighth grade A basketball team defeated Joplin East 40-37 last Thursday. Andy Heathman scored 10 and Levi Palmer and Chaden Brandt added nine points apiece.

The B team lost 36-17. Bryson Leftwich scored eight.

The NMS teams played Seneca on Tuesday.
