BUTLER, Mo. -- The Nevada High School golf team had one final tune-up before the sectional tournament arrives.

The Tigers took first place at the Butler Invitational on Friday.

Nevada senior Joseph Ferry took second place at the invite with a 41. Butler's Brett Miller earned medalist honors by shooting a 38 on his home course. Also for Nevada, Keegan Bell was seventh with a 44, Elijah Solidum and Lucas Denman tied for 10th with scores of 45 and Andrew Quitno was 13th with a 46.

Coach Brian Leonard said there was an hour and a half lightning delay, and the tourney organizers decided to use the nine-hole totals for the tourney.

Nevada won the invite on a tie-breaker that went to the fifth player's score.

Leonard added the wind was blowing 20-30 miles per hour all day.

"The course was playing very tough," Leonard said.

Nevada will send its entire team to the Class 3 Sectional at Carl Junction on Wednesday.

Butler Invite -- 1. Nevada 175, 2. Drexel 175, 3. Butler 178, 4. Pembroke Hill 181, 5. Harrisonville 191, 6. Clinton 211, 7. Warsaw 223.
