Carol W. (Fisher) Secrist
Carol W. (Fisher) Secrist, 88, passed away Thursday morning, May 17, 2012, at Lakeside Meadows Residential Care facility, Osage Beach, Mo., after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Carol was born in Muscatine, Iowa, June 9, 1923, the daughter of Clarence Elliott and Fletia Margaret (Phillips) Fisher.
She married Clarence Wilson Secrist in Muscatine, Iowa, June 11, 1941. They owned and operated C. Secrist Florist in Muscatine until July 1971, when they closed the business and moved to Deerfield, Mo.
In Deerfield, they established Secrist's Agate and Indian Relics, which she continued to operate until 2006. She was a member of the Church of God (Holiness), Deerfield, Mo.
An extremely gifted painter, she did the artwork for her husband's Indian arrowhead reference book. A faithful wife, Carol raised Clarence's twin children from a previous marriage.
Surviving Carol are her stepdaughter, Lois (Secrist) and husband, James Reinsager, Camdenton, Mo.; stepson C. Robert and wife, Vicki Secrist, Galesburg, Mich.; three stepgrandsons, Mark and wife, Angela Reinsager, Bartlesville, Okla., Michael and wife, Cheryl Reinsager, Baytown, Texas, and Thomas Reinsager, Herrin, Ill.; two stepgranddaughters, Vicki (Secrist) and husband, David Senkewitz, Augusta, Mich., and Susan (Secrist) and husband, Mark Youngquist, Yorba Linda, Calif.; eight great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, Nov. 10, 1978; two sisters, Helen and Margreth; and one brother, Kenneth.
Carol was interred at Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan., next to her husband.
