PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Nevada Middle School seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams headed out on the road for the first time this season, taking on Pittsburg Monday night.
Things started off well for head coach Marsha Hooper's seventh grade B team took a close victory in two sets. The opener came right down to the wire before Nevada finally closed it out by a final score of 25-19, but the second game wasn't quite as close as Hooper's squad pulled away for a 25-10 victory.
Things didn't go nearly as well for the A team as Pittsburg pulled away quickly and never looked back. By the time all was said and done, Pittsburg took the match in two sets by the final scores of 25-10 and 25-14.
The night was much the same for the eighth grade squads as the A team started out the night taking the victory over Pittsburg in two sets by the final scores of 25-9 and 25-13. The B team wasn't quite so successful as they fell in three sets by the final scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 15-5.
The next action on the schedule is set for tonight as both the seventh and eighth graders head back on the road to McDonald County.
