Cottey Comets softball swept at Coffeyville

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. -- In the midst of a weekend in which two Cottey College sports took a break from practice and play, the Comets softball team took a roadtrip to Byers Field for a doubleheader against the Coffeyville Community College Ravens Saturday afternoon.

The two contests both came down to a fairly close finish, but the Ravens were able to come out on top in both games to complete the sweep. In game one, the Comets fell by a final score of 7-5 and the outcome of game two was nearly identical as the Ravens took the win by a final score of 8-5.

With those losses, the Comets' fall 2012 preseason record fell to 1-3. The Comets are scheduled to be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 15, when they travel to Springfield, Mo., for a mid-day doubleheader against Evangel University at 11 a.m., and 12:30 p.m.
