The Cottey College Comets volleyball team suffered its fourth setback of the season Wednesday when the Greyhounds of Fort Scott Community College invaded the gym at Hinkhouse Center.
The Comets stayed in the match throughout nearly the whole night, but ultimately Fort Scott was just too much for the Comets to handle. The Comets dropped the first two sets by the final scores of 25-19 and 25-18 before coming back and winning the third, 25-22. Fort Scott ultimately closed it out in the fourth set, 25-15.
"There were some really long and intense rallies tonight in all four games. We were able to claim some of them as well," Comets head coach Marla Kannady Foreman said. "We are so excited about our fans, because we know they are behind us all the way. I told my team after the match that I was pleased with their 'never give up' performance."
Lauren Johnson led the Comets with four aces, while Hannah Wilson recorded 11 assists. Skyler Ford led the Comets with nine kills on the night, while Kasey Hall recorded four blocks and Kymee Bair added 27 digs.
The Comets are scheduled to be back in action today and tomorrow at the region seeding tournament.
