Earlene Pitts
Marjorie Earlene Pitts, 83, a former resident of Uniontown, Kan., and more recently of Fort Scott, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Medicalodges of Fort Scott. She was born May 25, 1929, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Earl A. Rogers and Margaret L. Williams Rogers. She married Paul Ernest Pitts on Jan. 2, 1947, at Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 2012.
Earlene worked as an aide for Medicalodges in the early 1970s. She enjoyed crocheting and reading.
Survivors include two sons, John A. Pitts and wife, Keri Lee Silvius, Tucson, Ariz., and James E. Pitts and wife, Cynthia McFarlin, Fort Scott, Kan.; three daughters, Marjorie A. Shumaker and husband, Mark, Tucson, Ariz., Paula S. Brewer and husband, Charles, Fort Scott, Kan., and Glenda L. Brobst, Byers, Colo.; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald, Earl, and Glenn Rogers; and three sisters, Mildred Seaver, Marion Roeser, and Rosa Calborn.
The Rev. Marty DeWitt will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Private burial will take place at U.S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m., at the Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Missionary Baptist Church Uniontown, and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kan., 66701.
