Martin Edward Eslinger -- 100 years
Martin Edward Eslinger, former resident of Nevada for more than 60 years will celebrate his 100th birthday with a party Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Via Christi Retirement Village, Ponca City, Okla. Born Nov. 30, 1912, in Vernon County, he was known around Montevallo as "Deck." A 1931 graduate of Nevada High School he taught school for eight years, worked at Ellis Music Store, Consolidated Vultee Air Craft Corporation on the B24 in San Diego, Calif., retired after nearly 25 years as a Sears Service Technician, started Eslinger Gardens and was an active member of Pine Street Baptist Church for 60 years. Martin and Mildred Smith were married for 70 years, and have two daughters, three grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
