Another Nevada High School senior has announced a desire to continue her athletic career in college.
Nevada High School athletic director Kevin McKinley announced Monday that NHS senior Sharla Quick is scheduled to sign a letter of intent to play volleyball for Fort Scott Community College at 3 p.m., Friday, March 8, in the library/media center at Nevada High School.
As a member of the Lady Tigers volleyball squad under head coach Ashley Thoreson, Quick was selected to the 2012 All-Class 3, District 12 volleyball second team and led the Lady Tigers in digs this past season. As a team the Lady Tigers finished the season 19-9-4 and were eliminated in the semifinals of the Class 3, District 12 tournament by Carl Junction on Oct. 24, after entering the tournament as the No.3 seed and being forced to play two matches on the same night.
The Lady Greyhounds volleyball team is coached by Lindsay Hill, the wife of former Nevada Griffons head coach John Hill. The Lady Greyhounds were 23-12 overall last season and 4-6 in the Eastern Division of the Jayhawk Junior College Conference.
