Rex E. Odom
Rex E. Odom, 74, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 3, 1939, in DeSoto, Kan., to Carl and Goldie Hall Odom. He was married to Dawn Denise Houchin for 34 years and she survives of the home.
Rex was raised in Fayetteville, Ark., before moving to Kansas City, Mo., in 1957. He worked as a sheet metal foreman until he moved to Walker, Mo., in 1982. Rex drove a bus for Cedar Ridge State School for 22 years until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Dawn, survivors include his children, Glen Odom, San Francisco, Calif., Sarah Smith and her husband, Aubrey, Valdosta, Ga., Lisa Lechman, Nevada, Greg Ramsey and his wife, Melanie, Nevada, and Kim Steinbach and her husband, Dave, Montrose, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Odom, Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joyce Zapien; and three children, Carl, Sandra, and Jeff.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 18, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Walker, Mo., with Larry Brown officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
