Another Nevada High School senior has announced a desire to continue his athletic career in college.
Nevada High School athletic director Kevin McKinley announced this week that NHS senior Anthony Mahder is scheduled to sign a letter of intent to play football for Missouri Valley College at 2:50 p.m., Monday, in the library/media center at Nevada High School.
Mahder played on the offensive and defensive lines for the Nevada Tigers football team that finished the season with an overall record of 8-3 under head coach Wes Beachler last season. He was the Tigers' starting right guard before taking over at left offensive and defensive tackle when Sam Ellifrits went down with a season-ending knee injury in a 43-34 win over the Mustangs of McDonald County on Oct. 12.
The Vikings finished the 2012 season with an overall record of 12-1,with their only loss of the season coming at the hands of Marian University (Indianapolis, Ind.) in the semifinal round of the NAIA Championship Series. Head coach Paul Troth's Vikings are scheduled to start the 2013 season on Sept. 14, against Ottawa University.
