Weather causes delay in I-49 work
Work to convert the 30th Road overpass to an interchange at Interstate 49 south of Lamar has been postponed until the week of May 13 at the earliest, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
With more rain in the forecast, the start date could be further delayed.
The project calls for contractor crews to build on- and off-ramps that will connect 30th Road to I-49.
Also, crews will relocate the outer roads on all four corners of the interchange to make room for the new ramps.
Drivers can expect:
* Periodic lane closings on I-49 when crews connect the new ramps into the interstate driving lanes.
* One-lane traffic at times on 30th Road.
* Temporary closing of the northeast outer road between Lamar Heights and 30th Road to allow for relocation.
* One-lane traffic on the other three outer roads during relocation work.
