Allen Ray Harden
Allen Ray Harden, 84, Walker, Mo., passed away at Nevada Regional Medical Center on Saturday, June 29, 2013, from complications of injuries sustained from a recent motorcycle accident. He was born on Jan. 26, 1929, in Pittsburg, Kan., to John Raymond Harden and Willa Rose Edson Harden.
Allen was raised in Walker and attended Walker High School. Upon leaving school, he moved to Kansas City for a few years, then served in the United States Army until 1953. Allen was self-employed in the trucking industry. Allen remained single. He was a beloved uncle to his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was locally known as "Uncle George." Allen enjoyed playing pool at the senior center. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Nevada where he had attended for 15 years.
Survivors include two brothers, Donald Harden and his wife, Shirley, and Darrell Harden and his wife, Ramona, all of Nevada; two sisters, Margarette Kitsmiller and her husband, Donald, of Nevada, and Aletha Kuppa and her husband, Herman, of LaCygne, Kan.; his brother-in-law, Vernon Brundridge of Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosemary Brundridge, Gladys Newby and her husband, Bob; and two brothers, Marion Harden and his wife, Mary, and Charles Harden.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Walker, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family received friends from 7-8 p.m., Monday, at Ferry Funeral Home.
