Web Update: Griffons game rained out

Saturday, July 20, 2013 ~ Updated 7:52 PM

The Nevada Griffons baseball team was scheduled to play what was arguably the most important game of the entire regular season Saturday night, at Lyons Stadium, but Mother Nature had other plans.

After a 3-2 loss to the Ozark Generals on the road Friday night, the Griffons came into Saturday's matchup against the Sedalia half a game behind the Bombers in the MINK League South Division race. The Griffons were in their first "must win" situation of the season as Sedalia entered the night with just two games left, while Nevada had three.

Not only was Saturday night's contest set to be the potential deciding factor in the division race, but it was also Fidelity Communications Night at the ballpark and the night of the Griffons' annual memorabilia auction. Both of those events were rescheduled for Tuesday night, when the Griffons will make up Saturday's game against the Bombers, at 7 p.m.

"They want to get a chance to promote this still, as much as they can," Griffons general manager Jeff Post said of Fidelity's sponsorship night.
