Nancy Louise Johnson

Nancy Johnson, 58, of Nevada, Mo., passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Truman Healthcare, in Lamar, Mo., following a lengthy illness. She was born on Aug. 3, 1954, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Roy Junior Johnson and Margie Louise Brooks Johnson.

Nancy was raised in Walker, Mo., and graduated from Walker High School in 1972. She worked for Nevada State Hospital and Southwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation in El Dorado Springs, Mo., until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of the Nevada Assembly of God and Fairview Christian Community Churches. Nancy will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her mother, Nevada; three sisters, Audrey Hamil and her husband, John, Stotesbury, Mo., Debbie Barnes and her husband, Tom, Walker, Mo., and Peggy Deming and her husband, Ed, Nevada; one brother, James Johnson and his wife, Avis, Stotesbury, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Sarah Bell Johnson; and a nephew, Colby Deming.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 25, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Bert Travis officiating. Interment will follow at East Liberty Cemetery, Stotesbury. Friends may call now until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, at the funeral home.
