James Edward Dulin Jr.
James Edward Dulin Jr., 67, of Schell City, Mo., the son of James Edward Sr. and Maudie V. (Austin) Dulin was born May 9, 1946, in Columbus, Ga., and passed from this life Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at his home.
James served our country in the United States Marine Corps -- completing three tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded the National Defense Services Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Services Medal; Good Conduct Medal; and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. On Feb. 19, 1971, he was united in marriage to Connie Ruth Lewis and together they had three children. Much of his civilian life James worked as a security officer. In 2005, he made Schell City his home. Favorite pastimes included woodworking and jewelry making. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Vietnam Veterans of America. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Schell City.
Survivors include his wife, Connie, of the home; his three children, Jennifer Sturdy of Nevada, Jeffrey Dulin and his wife, Tanille, of Peculiar, Mo., and Jason Dulin and his wife, Penny, of Independence, Mo.; one sister, Betty O'Dell of Walker, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Greer) McAfee, Jake Dulin, Katie Dulin, Courtney Martinez, Austin Grimes, Amanda Snell, Matthew Dulin, and Nicholas Grimes; and five great-grandchildren, Chase, Jadeince, Lane, Lilyana, and Issac. James was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for James Edward Dulin Jr. are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 15, at the First Baptist Church in Schell City with the Rev. Doug Reynolds officiating. Pallbearers are Eric Adkins, Jacob Faibian, Gavin Crocker, Tony Crocker, Josh Bachand, and Charles Sumner Jr. Visitation is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m., today, at the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, Schell City. Memorials are suggested to Vernon County Relay for Life or Kansas City VA 8th floor West Oncology Unit, in care of the funeral home.
