Comets fall to Ozark Christian
JOPLIN -- The Cottey College Comets volleyball team fell to 1-6 on the season Tuesday night with a three-set loss to Ozark Christian College, by the final scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-20.
"Their serving kept us out of system most of the evening, which then left us playing defense a lot," Comets head coach Marla Kannady Foreman said. "I can't really think of any one player who stood out for the Comets."
Maddie Lugenbeel led the Comets with 13 assists, while Kelsey Davidson finished the night with nine kills. Davidson and Cassie Hale finished the night tied for the team lead in digs with nine apiece and Davidson and Jalilah Cox each finished the night with two blocks.
"I can tell you they didn't look like the team that just took on Longview in five games, and Independence in five games last week," Foreman said. "Ozark Christian has a good program, but it wasn't Ozark who was hurting us."
Next on the schedule for the Comets is Thursday, when they head back out the road to take on Baptist Bible College, at 7 p.m.
