Hume takes home win after close set against Bronaugh

Hume edged Bronaugh in a three-game set in volleyball Tuesday night, with Bronaugh winning the first game 25-20. Hume bounced back though in the second, for a 25-15 decision. Then in the third and deciding game, Hume squeaked out a 25-21 decision.

Hume improved to 4-0 in the conference with the victory.

Lacie Gooch served for 10 points, with Kaitlee Metcalf adding nine, and Madison Cannon and Haleigh Whitten seven for Hume. Whitten had four aces and Metcalf and Gooch two. Hannah Jacobs finished with nine kills, with Whitten contributing two and Megan Sutcliffe one.

Hope Yarick led with 11 assists for the Hornets, with Cannon chipping in with five. Gooch had 16 digs, Metcalf six and Jacobs five. Jacobs also added a block.

"The girls started out slow and had a bad night of serving, which hurt us a lot," noted Hume Coach Delanya Thompson. "But we came together at the end and were determined to win."

Hume plays at Sheldon today while Bronaugh hosts Sarcoxie.
