District volleyball seeds announced
The Nevada Lady Tigers volleyball team drew the fourth seed in the Class 3, District 12 Tournament, Oct. 28 and 30, inside Wynn Gymnasium at Nevada High School.
Carl Junction is the top-seeded team with Pleasant Hill second, followed by Mount Vernon, Nevada, Harrisonville and Clinton. Four matches are scheduled for the tournament's first day, starting at 5 p.m., when Nevada takes on the Lady Wildcats of Harrisonville High School. The Lady Mountaineers of Mount Vernon High School and the Clinton Lady Cardinals square off at 6:15 p.m., followed by the Nevada-Harrisonville winner challenging the Lady Bulldogs of Carl Junction High School at 7:30 p.m., and the Mount Vernon-Clinton winner meeting the Chicks of Pleasant Hill High School at 8:45 p.m.
The district championship match is scheduled at 7 p.m., Oct. 30.
Of the five other teams in the district, the Lady Tigers have already faced three and were unable to come out on top of any of those matches. The Lady Tigers lost at Harrisonville in the second match of the season on Nov. 5, before dropping a home match to Carl Junction on Sept. 24.
The Lady Tigers went on to lose to Mount Vernon in pool play at the Carl Junction Classic tournament on Sept. 28, but still finished second in their pool and went on to take on Carl Junction once more in the tournament semifinals. It was a much closer match that time, but the Lady Bulldogs came out on top again, dropping the Lady Tigers to 0-3 against district opponents.
Nevada has yet to face Clinton or Pleasant Hill on the season.
