Nevada swimmers fare well at districts
SPRINGFIELD -- The Nevada Tigers swim team competed at the Southwest Missouri Championships Saturday and "swam very well," head coach Ryan Watts said.
"Everyone competed at top form at the most intense competition of the season," Watts said. "It was a great preview for the state meet."
Jess Claypool placed third in the breaststroke and Dalton Eador was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle. Nevada's 200 freestyle relay team placed fourth, completing what turned out to be a very satisfying performance.
"Everyone is ready to go and looking to come into state prepared to compete with the top talent in the state," Watts said. "All in all, it was great meet against the toughest competition we have seen all season!"
The Tigers' 200 freestyle relay time and Claypool's individual showing in the breaststroke were good enough to qualify for the MSHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championships, which are set for Friday and Saturday, in St. Peters, Mo.
"We will spend the next week getting prepared for state and getting ready to swim our best times of the season," Watts said.
