Lloyd L. Spillman
Lloyd L. Spillman, 89, of Nevada, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada. He was born on Feb. 4, 1924, in Metz, Mo., to Carl and Lenora (Wilson) Spillman. Lloyd was raised in Metz where he met his high school sweetheart, Iva Lorene Adams, and married her on June 21, 1943, and she survives of the home.
Lloyd was raised in Metz, attended Rich Hill schools, and also Jefferson City High School. He worked on the railroad, farmed in the Metz area for 30 years, and also worked for Longabaugh Construction for many years. Following retirement, he and Lorene moved to Camdenton, Mo., where they lived from 1988-2008, before moving back to Nevada. Lloyd was a member of the Nevada and Camdenton Elks Lodges and the Metz Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Iva Lorene, survivors include his daughter-in-law, RoseMary Spillman, of Columbia, Mo.; his grandaughter, Chris Spillman, of St. Louis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert L. Spillman.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Gary Kurtz officiating. A committal service will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
