Nevada JV falls to Warrensburg
The Nevada Tigers junior varsity basketball team got back into action Friday night, hoping to erase the bad memories from a tough, lopsided loss at Carthage Thursday.
Head coach Kyle Talley's squad entered Friday's home contest against Warrensburg at a decided disadvantage, in terms of experience on the floor and overall talent, but the Tigers held their own throughout the majority of the contest. Warrensburg ultimately used every advantage it had at its disposal and by game's end, proved to be just a bit too much for Nevada to handle in a 50-46 victory.
The Tigers got off to a strong start in the contest, taking a 10-9 lead after the first period. Warrensburg came to life in the second period, however, and took control, taking a 22-12 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
It looked as though the visitors would run away and hide, but Nevada simply wouldn't let that happen and despite trailing by as many as 14 points in the second half, Talley's squad clawed its way back into the game and pulled within one on a pair of occasions. Warrensburg ultimately held on in the end, however, taking the four-point victory.
As Talley said he usually does, Andrew Heathman led the offensive effort for Nevada, accounting for 11 of his squad's 46 points in the contest.
