EL DORADO SPRINGS -- The Nevada Middle School seventh-grade boys' basketball team opened the 2014 season in the El Dorado Springs Tournament Thursday night.

Head coach Robert Miner's squad found itself in a tightly-contested game that came right down to the wire against Warsaw. By the time all was said and done, the seventh-grade Tigers pulled out the victory by the slimmest of margins, 31-30.

Will Johnson led the offensive effort for Nevada with 10 points and Carter Swearingen had eight. Swearingen also led the Tigers defensively, with six rebounds and three steals.

The Tigers got right back into action in the tournament's second round on Friday, defeating the host Bulldogs to improve to 2-0 for the tournament and the season. In that contest, the Tigers had no trouble getting around El Dorado Springs in a 43-14 victory.

Johnson led the offensive effort for Nevada for the second night in a row, finishing Friday's contest with 10 points. On the defensive side, Kayden Ast sparked his squad's effort with five rebounds, two steals, and three blocked shots.

With the win, the Tigers moved into the tournament's final round and will face Camdenton Saturday. That contest is scheduled to tip off at 11:30 a.m., in the gym at El Dorado Springs High School.
