Bronaugh basketball sweeps Miami-Amoret on the road
Bronaugh picked up a pair of victories Thursday night on the road, with the girls winning handily, 70-33, and the boys pulling out a squeaker, 48-46.
For both teams, it was the sixth win of the season.
The Lady Wildcats had little difficulty with Miami, opening up a 23-14 first-quarter lead.
While the scoring slowed down in the second period, Bronaugh continued to widen the gap, taking a 39-24 halftime advantage.
Bronaugh totally dominated in the third quarter, continuing the scoring pace and tossing in 18 points, while the visitors shut down Miami's offense, allowing just five points. That resulted in a 57-29 difference.
The Lady Wildcats continued to pull away in the final frame, outscoring the home team, 13-2, to produce the final margin.
Martell Moore had a season-high 20 points to pace Bronaugh. Amanda Raper contributed with 11, and Sierra Arens added 10.
Rounding out the scoring for the winners were Taylor Stratford and Katy Rider with eight, Heather Baker and Lora Shaw with four apiece, Courtney Conner with three, and Becca Schnedler with two.
In the boys' game, it was a completely different contest, as the two teams were deadlocked at 10 after the first 8 minutes. Bronaugh managed a 21-19 lead at halftime before Miami pulled ahead after three quarters with a 15-12 edge in the period for a 34-33 difference.
The Wildcats then pulled ahead with a 15-12 margin in the final 8 minutes for the victory.
Chance Wait's 14 points paced the visitors. He had help from Thomas Kerbs, who finished with 11 and Jacob Hendrix with 10. Cole Diggins added eight, Bryce Whitworth four, and Justin Hudson three.
