Frank A. Harris
Frank A. Harris, 83, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., after a lengthy illness. Frank was born June 21, 1930, in Tarkio, Mo., to Charles Harris and Lydia Macrae Harris. He was united in marriage to Sue Byrnes on April 29, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2000.
Frank was raised in El Dorado Springs, Mo., and graduated class of 1948 from El Dorado Springs High School. He then served in the United States Army from January 1952 until December 1953, where he was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge from the Army, he became an agent for Prudential Insurance selling insurance in Nevada from 1959 until his retirement in 1987.
Frank was a 35-year member of the Nevada Rotary Club receiving the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher. Frank also especially enjoyed playing pool with his friends.
Survivors include one son, Mike Harris and his wife, Paula, Blue Springs, Mo.; one granddaughter, Ashley Harris, Blue Springs; three brothers, Ernest Harris, El Dorado Springs, Carl Harris, Sidney, Iowa, Paul Harris, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Lorene Davis, Springfield, Mo., Ada Bell, Nevada; and of special mention is his companion of the past 13 years, Wava Halcomb. In addition to his wife, Sue, he was preceded in death by one son, Bob, on Sept. 25, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
