Butler man arrested following high speed chase

Bates County Sheriff's Office personnel arrested a Butler man after he fled in a vehicle following an attempted stop and an ensuing high speed chase.

A deputy attempted to stop a 4-door white truck traveling south on Fulton Street, in Butler, Mo., at a high rate of speed Jan. 9.

The deputy attempted to stop the subject and the subject fled. Deputies stated that the subject drove through yards, ran over trash cans, and hit two trees, causing extensive damage to his vehicle.

The subject was finally apprehended at Country Club Terrace and Main Street, in Butler. Assisting in the arrest were members of the Butler Police Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The subject was identified as John D. Wilson, 23, of Butler. Wilson has been charged with a Class D Felony of resisting arrest, careless and imprudent driving, and driving while intoxicated. More charges are pending. Bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.
