Seventh-grade boys drop Tri-County title game
The Nevada Middle School seventh-grade boys' basketball team entered Thursday night's Tri-County Tournament championship game on a storied run that already included two upset victories. With a third, head coach Robert Miner's squad would have secured the tournament championship, but that didn't quite work out as the Tigers fell to Joplin South by a final score of 36-34, in overtime.
"The boys played very hard tonight, but we just came up short in overtime," Miner said. "Although this was a disappointing loss, the boys have nothing to hang their head about. They fought and played extremely well tonight."
With the loss, the Tigers were forced to settle for second place and finished the season with an overall record of 11-4, 6-4 in league play.
