Carol Elaine Nelson
Carol Elaine Nelson, 78, of Springfield, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Feb. 27, 2014. She was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Sept. 21, 1935, to Edward and Fern Woolverton. Carol attended Nevada High School and Wichita State University. She was married to her loving husband and best friend, Larry Nelson, whom she married on Aug. 2, 1952, in Huntsville, Ark.
Carol was preceded in death by father, Edward Woolverton; mother, Fern Woolverton; daughter, Debbie Dean; and brother, Tom Woolverton. She is survived by her husband, Larry E. Nelson; two children, Teresa Hahn and husband, Mark, of Clever, and Michael Nelson and wife, Laura, of Crane; four sisters, Joan Phillips and husband, Romie, of Moundville, Bonnie Brundridge of Springfield, Connie Jackson and husband, Larry, of Springfield, and Cheryl Smith and husband, Jim, of Nevada; on brother, JB Woolverton and wife, Bobby, of Nevada; nine grandchildren, Justin Dean, Jeremy Dean, Andrea Dean, Joshua Nelson, Jamie Coin, Carol Watson, Jeffery Nelson, and Christina Hahn; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The celebration of life was held at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 4. She will be inurned at Missouri Veteran Cemetery and arrangements will be made by Greenlawn South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. The funds will be used for much needed repairs on the church's front steps.
