The Richards town board is seeking more members, now that membership has fallen to two.

"They have to live in the city limits and be over 21," Kaila Jones said at the board meeting Thursday. "We need at least two. We are short three board members."

The board members set the first tractor pull of the season in, Richards ,for April 19, weather permitting. Rules and season dates will be posted at the post office.

"We will have a rules and pullers' meeting before the tractor pull," Jones said. "The rules and the regulations will be the same."

Mayor Mary Jones said someone from Metz will donate his time and tractor to preparing the track, but the town will have to blade the ground.

In other business, the town will be taking mowing bids until April 1.

"We decided last year, we're not going to mow the whole thing, just where the park is and around the playground equipment," Kaila Jones said. "We'll get someone to brush hog the rest when the grass gets really tall. There's no sense in mowing the whole thing all the time. If we do cut it short and it rains, when we park vehicles, we're going to get ruts. We're going to make sure all around the play equipment and by the tracks are sprayed this year, so there isn't as much weed eating."

A resident asked the board to fix the street sign on Main and Fourth, since the Main Street sign is missing. The board members agreed to take care of it.

The board members reiterated that they would not allow the closing of First and Fourth streets to close the railroad street crossings. Other crossings in town will be considered for upgrade at a later date.

The board decided closing the streets would make a hardship on residents needing to access the east or west side of the railroad tracks.

The railroad crossing at H Highway will receive additional lights and a crossing gate will be installed to minimize danger to drivers.
