Shirley J. Judd

Shirley J. Judd, 61, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada, following a short battle with cancer. She was born July 23, 1952, in Aurora, Mo., to Siegel Andrew James Batson and Oma T. (Calhoun) Batson. She and Verland "Gene" Judd were married on Oct. 14, 1969, in Kimball, Neb. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Shirley grew up in Aurora and moved to Fort Scott, Kan., in 1969. She had lived in Nevada since 1987. Shirley previously attended Countryside Assembly Church. She was a past member of the Nevada Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 3770. Shirley had a great love for her dogs.

Survivors include one son, Michael Judd, Kansas City, Kan.; one daughter, Michelle Adams, of the home; three grandchildren, Crystal Yakel, Lawrence, Kan., Lucia Yakel, Leawood, Kan., Donald Adams, Deerfield, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Glen H. Batson and Chalmer Batson; and one sister, Donna Batson.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., today, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Roger Beach officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
