The Nevada R-5 Board of Education voted unanimously Wednesday to hire Dr. Tyson Beshore as the R-5 Superintendent effective July 1, succeeding Dr. David Stephens, who announced his retirement in February.

Beshore has worked for the R-5 district for 16 years. He began teaching in the district in 1998 and served as assistant principal for four years and two years as principal at Nevada Middle School. For the past five years Beshore has been the R-5 district's assistant superintendent.

Beshore received his undergraduate degree from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan., and his master's degree in educational leadership at Pittsburgh State University. He later completed his specialist in educational leadership and doctorate in educational leadership from St. Louis University.

Beshore and his wife Kristi, a teacher in the Nevada R-5 District, have two children, Calli, a sixth grader at Nevada Middle School, and Cade, a third grader at Truman Elementary.
