Nevada High School track competes at Fort Scott
FORT SCOTT -- Paola High School swept the team championships in Friday's Fort Scott Invitational track and field meet.
The Panthers won the boys' title with 156 points, 43 more than runner-up Pittsburg, Labette County finished third with 77 and the Nevada Tigers were fourth with 57. Paola won the girls title with 189 points, Pittsburg was a distant second with 110 and the Lady Tigers finished sixth with 40.
Chaden Brandt ran second in the 100-meter dash and Connor West was second in the triple jump. West was third in the high jump and Tyler Seaver placed third in the pole vault.
Michael Brown was fourth in the 100, Ryan Ferris ran fourth in the 200-meter dash and the Tigers' 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams also finished fourth. Posting fifth-place finishes were Justin Marley in the 110-meter hurdles, Ben Sommer in the 800-meter run, Brandon Kaemmerling in the pole vault, Trevor Householder in the pole vault and Connor Harbit in the triple jump.
The Lady Tigers were led by bronze-medal performances by Brooklyn Vincent in the discus, Nikiya Feezell in the high jump and Tiffany McGraw in the pole vault. Reagan Bradley was fourth in the 200, Lexie Overton finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, Emma Denman placed fourth in the pole vault and Megan Hold was fourth in the triple jump.
Hold also was fifth in the long jump, Megan Mason was fifth in the triple jump, Vincent finished sixth in the shot put and the Lady Tigers' 4x100 relay team ran sixth.
The Nevada freshman and sophomore track and field athletes are to compete at Fort Scott, Tuesday, while the varsity athletes are scheduled to compete in the Girard Invitational Friday, at Girard, Kan.
