Stephen Randolph Huss

Stephen Randolph Huss, 64, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014, at Medicalodge, in Nevada. He was born Oct. 7, 1949, in Oswego, Kan., to Gene Melvin Huss and Farol Marie Stevenson Huss. He was united in marriage to Teresa Viola Nunez in Nevada, Mo., on Nov. 12, 1983, and she survives.

Stephen grew up in Fort Scott, Kan., and was a graduate of Fort Scott High School in 1970. He worked various jobs before entering the U.S. Army. During his three years in the service as an infantryman, Stephen received the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon and received the Expert (MK-16 Rifle and Hand Grenade) award. Following the military, he settled in Nevada, where he was married with two children.

Stephen worked as a custodian at Nevada Manor, Nevada City Hospital, YMCA, and lastly Heartland Hospital, then retiring due to ill health. His hobbies were reading, singing, enjoyed any kind of history, and loved spending time with his family. Stephen was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his spouse, Teresa Viola Huss, Nevada; one son, Stephen Andrew Huss, Cypress, Texas; one daughter, Camille Dawn Huss, Nevada; one sister, Patty Huss, Fort Scott, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, May 16, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with burial to follow at 1:30 p.m., at National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
