A Nevada man faces charges of felony domestic assault from a reported incident that occurred Sunday night.
Detective Josh Westerhold said Monday that the Nevada Police Department has completed an investigation of the alleged assault, which took place at a home on South Adams Street.
Officers were dispatched to the emergency room at Nevada Regional Medical center following the incident to speak with a domestic assault victim receiving treatment.
The 28-year-old woman told officers that a male companion had thrown her to the floor and struck her multiple times. She was able to escape the house, and a friend took her to the hospital for medical attention.
After speaking with the victim, officers arrested 34-year-old Charles R. Pratt Jr. at a residence on South Adams Street.
According to Missouri court records, Pratt was charged as a persistent offender for second-degree domestic assault. Pratt's record showed he pleaded guilty to third-degree assault in 2011. In that case, Pratt received two years probation and 20 hours of community service.
Pratt was held in the Vernon County Jail on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
