Evea Marion Jordan
Evea M. Jordan, 85, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kan., following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 17, 1929, in Nevada, to John Aaron Folkner and Evealine Elizabeth Key Folkner. She married Harold Lee Jordan on Aug. 20, 1949, and he preceded her in death in 1965.
Evea was raised in the Bronaugh and Moundville, Mo., area and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1947. She worked at Nelly Don, Junior House and J. H. Collectibles as a seamstress for many years. She also worked for Drs. Hatch and Spencer as a receptionist and later for Oxford Home Health. In her early 70s, she went back to school and earned an associates degree from Vatterott College then worked at the employment office in Nevada until her retirement in 2012, at the age of 83. She attended the Cowboy Church and loved flower gardening, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Ferguson and her husband, Mark Thomas, Tulsa, Okla.; one son, Kenneth Jordan, of the home; two grandchildren, Christopher Ferguson and Priscilla May (Jordan) Webb; five great-grandchildren, Tesla Marie, Corgan Jean, Jakob, Hailey, and Kenneth Ray; two sisters, Johnnie Medley, Moundville, and Verna Overstreet, Lee's Summit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Scott Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, at the funeral home.
