Nevada Police searching for suspect in drug case

A 56-year-old Nevada resident is being sought in connection with an illegal drug distribution case following an investigation by Nevada Police.

According to a press release from the NPD, officers engaged in an undercover operation that determined that there had been an illegal sale of a controlled substance at a house in the 900 block of North Main Street, Nov. 10.

A search warrant was granted by the Vernon County Associate Circuit Court and Nevada Police officers executed the search warrant at the residence, based on information developed during this investigation. A significant amount of suspected methamphetamine was seized.

An arrest warrant was issued by the Vernon County Associate Circuit Court for David Eugene Perkey.

The charges involved three drug related felonies -- keeping a public nuisance, a Class C felony; distribution of a controlled substance, a Class B felony; and possession of a controlled substance, a Class C felony.

Bond was set $50,000, cash only. Officers believe the suspect fled the area to avoid arrest.

Nevada Police continue to search for the suspect and need the help of the community. The fugitive is believed to still be in Southwest Missouri and was last known to be located in Joplin.
