William Wallace Barber
William Wallace Barber, 87, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at the Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. William was born on Nov. 26, 1927, in Duncan, Ariz., to Albert Leslie Barber and Mary Ellen (Phillips) Barber. He was united in marriage to Della Kathleen Piotrowski on June 24, 1951, in Nevada, Mo., and she preceded him in death in 1982.
William was raised in both Texas and New Mexico, graduating from high school in Capitan, N.M. He later came with his brothers to Missouri and settled in Kansas City before coming to live in Nevada in 1950. William was employed at Thorpes Appliance, in Nevada, as a TV and radio repairman until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church, in Nevada.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy David and her husband, Denny, Nevada, Lara Walker, Augusta, Ga., and Deanne Major and her husband, Michael, Gainesville, Ga.; five grandchildren, Amanda Chick, Smithville, Mo., Sarah Hulme, Grovetown, Ga., Emily Walker, Grovetown, Ga., Kelcey Major, Gainesville, Ga., and Kaylee Major, Gainesville, Ga.; one sister, Georgia Pittman, Odessa, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; his son-in-law, David Walker; four brothers; and one sister.
A committal service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 15, at Newton Burial Park, in Nevada, with Pastor David Rorabaugh officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
