Hume boys notch first victory
CALHOUN ---- After losing eight consecutive games to begin the year, the Hume Hornets hammered Calhoun 50-31, Jan. 9.

The Hornets led by only two, 11-9 at the conclusion of the first quarter. However, Hume kicked things into gear in the second quarter, outscoring their opponent 20-7, en route to grabbing a 42-25 halftime advantage.
The third quarter didn't feature much offense, as the Hornets outscored Calhoun 5-3, giving Hume a 17 point advantage heading in the final frame.
In the fourth quarter, the scoring was nearly even, as the Hornets put up 14 points to Calhoun's 12, for the final margin of 19 points.
"We looked sharp on both sides of the ball, and we limited the turnovers," Wehar said. "The boys did a great job of communicating on defense and closing out on their shooters."
