Cecil Raymond Painter
Cecil Raymond Painter, 82, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on March 17, 2015, at his home in Nevada. Cecil was born on Dec. 30, 1932, in Nevada, to Claude R. and Lela May (Massie) Painter. He was united in marriage to Betty Marie Blakeman on Sept. 1, 1973, and she preceded him in death in 2001.
Cecil was a lifelong resident of Nevada and attended Nevada High School. Following high school he served in the United States Navy for 3 1/2 years, during the Korean conflict. He then returned to Nevada and began working for Cottey College where he continued to work until his retirement. Cecil attended the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include four daughters, Belinda Talbott, Kansas City, Kan., Cynthia Newman, Kansas City, Kan., Lisa Elam and Christina Painter, Kansas City, Mo.; one son, Charleton Painter, Kingsville, Mo.; several grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren, Richard Blakeman, Okauchee, Wis., and Gary Blakeman, Olathe, Kan. In addition to his wife, Betty, he was also preceded in death by one stepgranddaughter, Susan Perry.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. and funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Pastor Mike Satterlee officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Newton Burial Park, Nevada.
