Wolfe excelling on field of play at Southwest Baptist University

Senior infielder Ross Wolfe is having a solid year for the Southwest Baptist University Bearcat baseball team.

Wolfe was one of the top returning infielders in the MIAA, entering into his fourth season as the Bearcats starting shortstop.

Wolfe's offensive prowess has been on full display this season.

He hit .344 with 9 doubles and 7 stolen bases in 2014.

He has appeared in 149 games the last three years, starting all 149.

In 2013, he hit .279 with 9 doubles and 3 homeruns.

In 2012, Ross had a .285 batting average and stole 6 bases.

He currently ranks second all-time at SBU in assists and fourth all-time in double plays.

He was a 2015 NCBWA Pre-Season First Team All-Central Region, 2014 Second Team All-MIAA Shortstop, 2012, 2013 and 2014 MIAA Commissioners Academic Honor Roll, Single Season Assist Record Holder at SBU (163, 2014), and the 2014 MIAA Hitter of the Week (Feb. 18-24).

Currently, this year he's hitting .346 in 44 games, with 156 at-bats, with 29 runs scored, 54 hits, 29 RBIs, 11 doubles, 5 triples, 2 homers, 22 walks, 12 stolen bases, and a .940 fielding percentage.

SBU, located in Bolivar, is 18-26 with a handful of games remaining in the regular season.

Ross is the son of B.G. and Jennifer Wolfe. Younger brother Grant Wolfe is a freshman pitcher on the team.

Ross is majoring in exercise science.
