American Standard Brands announces closure of Nevada manufacturing facility
Nevada Daily Mail
American Standard announced it will cease manufacturing operations at its Nevada facility effective June 30.
The 133 employees affected were notified Friday that production will be relocated to other facilities within the company's operations network.
The plant, which makes sanitary chinaware products such as toilets and bathroom sinks, was originally part of Crane Plumbing LLC that was merged with AS America, Inc. and Eljer, Inc. in 2009 to form American Standard Brands.
American Standard Brands is now part of LIXIL Water Technology (LWT) business, headquartered in Luxembourg, with manufacturing across 50 production facilities worldwide.
"This decision, while difficult, is unavoidable in the interests of securing the company's future," said Steve Delarge, acting American Standard CEO in a press release.
"We are grateful for the service of the employees at Nevada and are committed to helping them through this transition."
Plans for the physical plant itself are not immediately known, noted the company release.
