Frances Virginia Evans

Frances Virginia Evans, 87, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, in Clinton, Mo. Virginia was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo., to Frank Thorton Smith and Emma Alice (Willsey) Smith. She was united in marriage to Albert C. Evans on June 16, 1943, in Kansas City, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2015.

Virginia was a Christian and was saved in Milo, Mo. Virginia worked in retail for several years and was a dedicated homemaker. Virginia was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada.

She is survived by her sisters, Faye Schlie, Independence, Mo., and Brenda and Mike (brother-in-law) Kiely, Clinton, Mo.; her grandchildren, Andre Evans and his wife, Kristie, Minneola, Fla., Justin Evans and his wife, Katrina, Germany, Briant and Michae Thomas, Fort Worth, Texas, and Shawn and Amy, Hofer, Rutledge, Ga.; 12 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Evans, Joplin, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Albert C. Evans, she was preceded in death by one son, Albert R. Evans; two brothers, Stanley Smith, Detroit, Mich., and John Smith, Garland Texas; and one sister, Carolyn Novatoskoski.

Funeral services will held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 4, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Hubert Fox officiating. A private burial will follow. Friends may call from now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Frances Virginia Evans Nursing Scholarship Fund for the Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
