Genevieve Stone Shaw

Genevieve Shaw, 105, of El Dorado Springs, Mo., passed away in Community Springs Healthcare facility in El Dorado Springs, Mo.

Genevieve was born July 4, 1909, to Dora A. (Jackson) Stone and James E. Stone, on Main Street in El Dorado Springs. In the 1800s, her ancestors led travelers to the Spring of Water, now in the city park and shortly thereafter the city of El Dorado Springs was founded. Genevieve was proud of her heritage and lived all of her life on the farm just outside of El Dorado Springs that her grandparents homesteaded.

She enjoyed teaching her students, working with bees, gardening, and her livestock.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie E. Shaw, and son, Raymond Shaw.

Genevieve is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Shaw) Allen, of Nevada, Mo.; her granddaughters, Belinda and husband, Brent Greenstreet, of El Dorado Springs, and Teresia and husband, Jeff Koger, of El Dorado Springs; great-granddaughters, of Nicole and husband, Brad Brackman, of Concordia, Mo., and Lisa and husband, Cody Hudson, of El Dorado Springs; one great-grandson; four great-great-grandchildren, Gracie Brackman, Taylee Hudson, Lane Brackman, and Raylee Hudson; and she had many friends at Community Springs Nursing Home.

Grandma Shaw enjoyed the outdoors hoeing weeds. She will be missed and remembered for living the laid back, simple life as we all should.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., today, at the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery.
