Herman "Carl" Brokob
Carl Brokob, 87, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015, at National Health Care, Joplin, Mo. Carl was born on Sept. 29, 1927, in Nevada, to Albert Herman and Pearl Marie (Rose) Brokob. He was married to Beulah Burdick for 42 years and she preceded him in death.
Carl served as a diesel mechanic in the U.S. Army from 1945-47 with the rank of Sergeant. He then worked in the plumbing trade for more than 30 years for Thorpe's Appliance, Jerry Rose and Kapple's and also worked for a number of years for the Katy Railroad. He also was a milkman in the Butler, Mo., area for seveal years. Carl was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Nevada and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Carl Brokob Jr. and his wife, Linda, Webb City, Mo.; two daughters, Carol Seaver, Nevada, and Mina White and her husband, Tom, Joplin, Mo.; five grandchildren, Ilene Lanham, Chrystal Wininger, Eric Phillips, Becky Rowden and Derrick White; seven great-grandchildren, Briannah Lanham, Tiffany Wininger, Conner Lanham, Chloe Wininger, Gage McBride, Grevyn Phillips, and Isaiah White; two brothers, Joseph Brokob, Neosho, Mo., and Bill Brokob, Girard, Kan.; four sisters, Dorothy Burns, Joplin, Emma Hartman, Nevada, Betty Crandell, Fairland, Okla., and Pearl Brokob, Nevada. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother and sister, Gus Brokob and Mary Fisher; and son, Bobby Joe Brokob.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 6, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
