Dorothy Ellen Heitz

Dorothy Ellen Heitz, 80, Bronaugh, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015, at her home in Bronaugh. Dorothy was born on Sept. 13, 1934, in Prescott, Kan., to Orville Dell and Villa Fern (Davis) Mayhugh. On Nov. 17, 1956, she was united in marriage to Percy L. Heitz, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he survives of the home.

Dorothy attended school in Pleasanton, Kan., and graduated from Pleasanton High School Class of 1951. Following high school she attended college in Fort Scott graduating with a degree in nursing in 1954. Dorothy then worked for many years in Fort Scott in the nursing profession.

In addition to her husband, Percy, survivors include four daughters, Sandra L. Heitz, Bronaugh, Tammie Keith and her husband, Austin, Columbia, Mo., Deborah Wagener and her husband, Shaw, La Canada, Calif., and Teresa Turner and her husband, Jeff, Louisburg, Kan.; grandchildren, Sophie and Harrison Wagener, La Canada, Calif., and Lucas and Holly Turner, Louisburg; one sister, Maude Wood, Prescott, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Juanita Mayhugh, North Littlerock, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dell Mayhugh, and Wesley Mayhugh; and one sister, Elda Fletcher.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery, Bourbon County, Kan. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, at the funeral home.
